Our Philosophy

Here at New Beginnings we hold relationships as the most valued and fundamental part of all we do, this is why Whanaungatanga is one of our core values.

We embrace shared experiences, celebrating culture, traditions, family values and aspirations so all parents and whānau feel accepted and respected. We endeavour to work together to provide a sense of belonging and inclusion. We value what our community brings and the dynamic learning that this encompasses.

Kotahitanga is another vital part of our philosophy and the way we view learning. Here at New Beginnings we believe all tamariki are unique and our centre will respect and reflect the individual tamaiti strengths, interests and areas of growth, providing tamariki with equal opportunities to reach their full potential, acknowledging that we all come from different walks of life.

All children will be given support through gentle, sensitive and informed guidance providing an environmenet that is filled with Manaakitanga. We put high value in respecting others, nurturing leadership, valuing the teina-tuakana approach and ensuring the kaiako within our centre are great role models.

Our aim is to encourage self-regulation, effective thinking and self-help skills.

Play is such an important part of learning, we understand and support tamariki to explore and grow at their own pace which is why it's important that we value and understand how Āta-haere looks in practice.

As a community we value the importance of slowing down and being present in all moments, allowing tamariki the time to build up to cope with transitions/change throughout their time here, valuing the autonomous child and trusting their capabilities of understanding.
